Solarmente, the Barcelona-based climate startup, has reached an agreement with Tesla to install its Powerwall home batteries in Spain. This move allows Solarmente’s customers to further increase their electricity bill savings and prepare for the electrification of their energy consumption, with the aim of increasing the levels of decarbonisation towards a greener and cleaner society.
Tesla Powerwall is a battery system that stores excess energy generated by the solar installation for use at night or during a power outage. The system that Solarmente will install from today will consist of 4 elements:
-Solar panels: convert solar energy into electricity.
–Powerwall: battery to store the energy.
–Wall Connector: electric car charger.
–Tesla App: software to monitor and manage the entire system.
SolarMente’s strategy aims to combine photovoltaic installations with other components such as batteries or electric vehicle chargers to maximise the potential of surplus solar energy. By enabling homeowners to produce, consume and manage their own green energy in a more flexible way, it facilitates access to renewable energy and promotes a higher penetration of renewable electricity production.
In addition to the partnership with Tesla, SolarMente has recently secured €50 million in financing in partnership with GNE Finance to increase the reach of its solar subscription model . This is a solar panel lease, where the Solarmente customer gets all the benefits of solar energy with no upfront investment, all included in a convenient monthly fee.
The partnerships with Tesla and GNE Finance represent key steps for SolarMente in its mission to democratise access to renewable energy, making it more accessible to a wide range of consumers and leading the shift towards a greener, more sustainable world.
