In May 2020, SolarMente completed its first installation, and now, one year later, the Spanish solar self-consumption startup has been accepted into the prestigious Y Combinator (YC) accelerator programme. This programme is known for having boosted renowned companies such as Airbnb, Dropbox, Stripe, Twitch and Coinbase. SolarMente joins a select group of only seven Spanish companies that have been part of YC.
Y Combinator offers founders lifelong support, with an intensive focus during the first three months. This period includes training, mentoring and funding, culminating in the Demo Day on 31 August, where the startups present their projects to important investors. Wouter Draijer, CEO and co-founder of SolarMente, expressed his enthusiasm for being part of this accelerator, highlighting that this programme will not only be a significant boost for his company, but also for PV self-consumption in Spain.
Founded by Paul Graham and Jessica Livingston, Y Combinator is one of the oldest and pioneering accelerators in the sector, with a model that has been replicated by thousands of incubators around the world.
